This was my first year as a special education teacher in a public elementary school. I taught in a count board MRDD, non-inclusive school during the last eight years.
I need tips on improving collaboration with regular ed. teachers. I am presently trying to run both a self-contained and inclusive classroom. My class is "cross categorical" I have 4 M.H., 3D.H., and 1SBH student. The primary teachers, k-2 would like me to work more in the regular ed classrooms. The 3-4 grade teachers would like their children to spend more time in my classroom. This has made scheduling and collaboration very difficult! I want to start out next year prepared and ready.
I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
a. Suggestions for decreasing the nightmare of scheduleing.
b. Suggestions for building the trust and respect of regular ed. teachers. I work with a very professional, caring, hard working staff.
c. Tips on getting the next school year off to "a good start."
d. Tips on writing iep's that reflect both the regular ed curriculum and the needs of the special child.
Thankyou, Linda
c. Tips on making inclusion work.
