Hi, my parents where given that option for my brother some years ago, they decided to keep him in 1st grade again as if he'd go to 2nd and possibly not pass that would be more emotionally damaging then taking 1st over. Now it is a choice, if your daughter doesn't pass 2nd (or possibly a higher grade) that would be worse, at least I feel it would. The decision of course is yours but to do this now would be easier on her then later when she is older...in my opinion of course! Good Luck I hope this helps a little!

: My daughter has just been evaluated by our school. She was found not to have a learning disability and she did not qualify for special education. Her test scores where in the low average to average range. Since the evaluation did not tell us if she had ADD or why she was struggleing with school my husband and I deceided to have a psychologist test her. He found her to be a slow learner with a I.Q. of 81. He suggested we remove our daughter out of 2nd grade in which she has been in since school started 3 weeks ago and place her back into 1st grade again. He feels that she would benifit in the long run and instead of being in the lower 10th of her class the immediate placement back into the lst grade would put her in the 35-50 percent of the class.
: I have mixed feelings about doing this and would like some advice from other people. My daughter has a very high vocabulary but has a hard time with concepts. I also find it hard to believe that her I.Q. is that low. Could there be some mistake and the I.Q. test be wrong? I also have concerns about her self esteem and how putting her back into the first grade may affect her emotionally. I also worry that if we dont place her back she may struggle all her school life and end up hateing school. Please any answers would be appreicated.
: Thank you
