Now that goals and objectives have to be measureable, I have had a difficult time with students whom I am just monitoring or providing consultative OT services. I went to a seminar where the presenter told us that as OT's, we did not have to make up seperate OT goals, but that we could simply just sign the IEP because our purpose is to support whatever the teacher's goals for the student are. This made sense to me, but unfortunately my supervisor will not allow this in our district. Even if a student is just receiving occasional consultation from OT, she insists that we write measureable goals for functional improvement to be included in the IEP.
I'm interested in hearing how this is being handled in other districts, if anyone has the time or inclination to share! Thanks!
